SU5000 Optical Turnstiles Control Access at Employee and Visitor Entrances
A major Southern California motion picture studio wanted to control employee and visitor access at its flagship studio complex. The facility houses over a thousand employees, as well as film, audio and television studios which are toured by visitors daily.
In addition to controlling employee and visitor access, the studio was very concerned about aesthetics. The proposed turnstile solution needed to blend with the facility’s distinct architecture. As a further challenge, the installed turnstiles would be located outdoors.
Alvarado proposed the use of its SU5000 optical turnstiles at both employee and visitor entrances. In addition to superior operational capabilities, the SU5000’s extremely slim profile and clear side panels and motorized barriers look great in any environment.
After visiting Alvarado’s manufacturing facilities, and also seeing the SU5000 operating at other installation sites, the studio determined that the SU5000 was the ideal choice for their installation. Facility personnel were pleased with Alvarado’s ability to install the SU5000 outdoors under an overhead structure. They also liked that the product offered various access control and visitor modes to meet their varied requirements. The studio’s creative team, and outside architectural firm, loved the customization options for the SU5000. These included the ability to etch custom designs on the side and motorized panels, and the ability to illuminate panels in custom LED colors.
After selection, Alvarado worked closely with the studio, as well as the outside architectural and integration firms. Additional weatherization protection was added and several etching samples were produced before designs were finalized for each of the various installation locations.
Since installation, the SU5000’s have successfully controlled both employee and visitor access. The studio is now considering the addition of additional turnstiles at other access points. “This was a unique and challenging installation”, said Nick Simon, Alvarado’s National Security Sales Manager. We’re extremely pleased that we could provide a solution that not only looks amazing, but provides superior access control and visitor management in an outdoor setting.”
